First off, Tony is finally back from his trip (13 days to CA and back)! He has made it back safe and sound...he has a goatee and mustache, though (ew!), but he promises to shave it off today.
My real reason for this post is to recognize and give a new level of respect and appreciation to all the single parents out there. I always knew single parenting was difficult, but it wasn't from any first hand knowledge. I also don't think I have a complete picture of single parenthood now, but it is certainly closer than before.
When you are the only adult in the household, you are left making all the decisions and being the only person the kids can come to when their world is "falling apart". Alone time doesn't come around very often. Punishment is all on you, there is no one else there to "back you up". Most of your conversations are with mini-people, so any adult conversation is held on to tightly.
I thought that I would be able to keep the house straight while Tony was gone, but that was only in my imagination. The house was a wreck most of the time. Although the kids and I did a lot of fun stuff together over the last 13 days, it was very difficult and my patience level has dropped significantly. I've been pretty snappy at even the smallest of things.
So, to all you single parents out there...YOU ROCK!
