"Whooo" else wants to harass me???

When I was 3'ish' years old, I had a very traumatic moment outside my grandparents house one night. We were leaving their house, it was dark out and I saw a shadow up in the tree...(creepy music plays in the background)...I didn't want to go outside, but with prodding from my parents, I walked out the door. All of a sudden, there was a loud HOOT! And that was it for me...from then on, I've never been very fond of those creepy birds that can look backwards.

So, about a year or so ago, I confessed to my to closest friends, Pam and Kelly, the one thing that really creeps me out...OWLS! I wouldn't say it's a full blown fear, but it is something I do not like to look at or even think about! Now, most people would have comforted their friend and helped her work through her creepiness...oh, no, not mine...hehehe...ok, ok...I would've laughed at me too!

So, for the last year, Kelly and Pam have found great joy in randomly sending me an owl picture here and an owl picture there. My mom has even got in on the fun and bought me a "hooting" stuffed owl for Christmas (Thanks a lot Mom!).

The saddest part is that owls are huge in scrapbooking right now...now, I'll admit from time to time that some of the papers and embellishments are cute, but I cannot bring myself to use one in my scrapbook.

This week, Kelly sent me a text and told me she had bought me something. I LOVE SURPRISES! I've been excited all week, wondering what it was that made Kelly think of me and buy it!

Wesley the Owl is obviously pretty popular...this book was even on the NY Times best seller list. He even has his own website. I will definitely read this book, but Kelly...when I have owl nightmares from it, I'm coming to your house to sleep!!!
