The Gargoyle

I FINALLY finished reading The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson. It seems like this book has taken me forever to finish. But I want to make sure that you don't take the 2 months it took me to read it as meaning I didn't like the book or it was hard to read. The hard part was finding time to read when I didn't want to fall asleep...I have been exhausted since my surgery.

Now, before I go on about the book, I have to say that this book is rough. I consider it more of an R rated book. The language and thematic elements are rough. So if you aren't into that type of reading, don't read this book. But if you are willing to look past these aspects of the book and read it for the story, then I whole-heartedly recommend it.

This book is about a porn star who is at the height of his career. He is living on the "high"-life and I mean high literally. Then he is in a horrific car accident where his entire body is burned. He spends almost a year in the burn ward and undergoes countless surgeries. While in the burn ward, he meets a psychiatric patient who claims they were lovers in the 14th century. As she tells him of their previous life together he starts wondering if it could be true or if she really is crazy. The book spins their two stories together in the past and the present taking the main character into Hell as he finds his salvation.

When I finished the book this afternoon, I was left wanting so much more. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book. It is definitely on my list of favs. Thanks Kelly for recommending it to me.
