The Lace Reader by Brunonia Barry

Every gift has a price . . . every piece of lace has a secret.

Towner Whitney, the self-confessed unreliable narrator, hails from a family of Salem women who can read the future in the patterns in lace, and who have guarded a history of secrets going back generations. Now the disappearance of two women is bringing Towner back home to Salem—and is bringing to light the shocking truth about the death of her twin sister.

I have always loved the history of Salem and the witch trials. When my friend Kelsie recommended this book at our last book club, I didn't hesitate to stake my claim of borrowing it.

There is so much drama and twists in this book. I did not figure it all out until the very end and I am still trying to piece some of it together now. I've even had a couple of dreams about it the last few nights. This book is haunting and the story is riveting. If you are looking for something out of the ordinary, this is the book for you. Being a twin, I certainly feel a different kind of connection to this book than I probably would have otherwise. I am glad I read it and glad Kelsie recommended it.
