....the two hardest things in the world to find the perfect fit. Since losing over 50 pounds, I decided I need to tackle the purchase of a new bra. Ugh!
My ugh! has a reason. 6'ish' years ago, I had a breast lift and implants. I asked for a full C cup and walked out with a D once the swelling went down. I tried forever to fit into Victoria's Secret bras and never, ever found one. Finally one day, I was watching Oprah and she inspired me to go the Lingerie Store. That's when I found a bra that has been so good to me. But that wonderful bra, only comes in basic nude, white and black. It has no lace...so I've never felt PRETTY when I wear it.
I was hoping beyond hope, that with this weight loss I would actually reduce my bra size. I've been walking around wearing a 40D and just think my 'girls' are HUGE. But in this 40D bra, my 'girls' were swimming in the cups. So I had hope for a possible C cup. (For you ladies with little 'girls' count your blessings...big 'girls' really impact how clothes fit...forget any button up shirts...but I digress.)
I told Tony I wanted to go shopping this week and he insisted that he come along. It wasn't until after I had tried on my 3rd bra last night that I was thankful he was there. I was getting totally frustrated because none of them were fitting. They measured me at a 38D, but they weren't fitting without giving me a muffin top. I think in total, I tried on 8 bras and I was so ready to walk out. Tony made me calm down and helped me so much. The girl at Victoria's Secret went to talk to her manager and they decided I needed to try a 38DD...DD? What? No way!!! But believe it or not, the 38DD fits beautifully.
Now the BEST part...the bra that works best for me is a gorgeous. It has lace on it, some bling on it and comes in awesome colors. The one I got is the Body by Victoria Full Coverage and it is black with white polka dots. I love it!
Now, I guess I need to summon the courage to go try on 50 pairs of jeans. Guess I'll need to take Tony with me for that one too.

I used to work at VS in college (for a year or so) and you wouldn't believe the women that come in with the same problem. Gaining weight, losing weight, pregnant, post-pregnancy, you name it. You're not alone! And trust me, as you keep losing weight the "girls" will proportionally change with ya. Yay for pretty bras! There's a time and place for nude, white and black but sparklies, lace and bright colors are so much fun! I have a whole drawer full...some from my employee days (employees get freebies when new styles come out)!
I HATE bra shopping, and I so need to go. The gals have shrunk from the DD I was when Aubrey was first born, but they aren't the B they were before I got pregnant, so I have to go find something that fits--but I hate to drop the money, when I know they're going to shrink when Aubrey is finally weaned (we still nurse 3 times a day). I have these lovely bras in my drawer, but none of them fit--either way too big or way too small. Looking forward to having nice bras that actually fit and are pretty (nursing bras are hideous) someday soon.
