MEMORY FROM CHILDHOOD
When I was trying to narrow down my favorite movie on day 1, a movie from my childhood kept coming to my mind. I wouldn't say this movie is a favorite, but the memory behind it certainly is.
My parents took me to see Savannah Smiles when I was only 8 years old. I left this film sobbing. Don't get me wrong, this is a sweet, sweet movie. But even back then, I was horrible about internalizing everything.
In this movie a 7 year old girl runs away from home because she is tired of being ignored by her high society parents. She hides out in a random car at the park and it turns out that an ex-con and an escaped con are who are driving the car. They aren't your brightest crooks, but they are smart enough to eventually fall in love with Savannah and she with them.
I remember leaving the theatre that day and bawling to my mom saying "What is that were to happen to me?". I was not only sad that she felt like she needed to run away, but also sad that her new friends got in trouble when they were finally apprehended by the cops again. I guess I have always had a really soft heart...ok, I KNOW I have always had a really soft heart.
Just talking about this movie makes me want to watch it again...guess I need to go dust off the VHS tape....hehehe.

Blast from the PAST..., I had forgotten about his movie, but I bet I watched it a dozen times every time I visited my Aunt. Thanks for the childhood memory!
I remember this movie! I LOVED it when I was little. Savannah was so cute in it. Good choice, Becky, it takes me back! I remember my sister getting mad at my parents once, packing up a suitcase and walking down the street. My dad was following her with me right behind and he asked what she was doing and she said she was going to do what Savannah Smiles did! LOL!
What a sweet memory!! Thank you for sharing.
