My Son, The Musician!

Quinn officially started Jr. High Band last week. To get the 7th graders ready for the real deal, the district band directors held a week long summer band camp, that culminated in a short program for the parents.

I am very proud of Quinn for making the decision to be in band. I think music programs are critical for kids...and I truly believe it will help him in every other area of school. There is just something about using the creative side of the brain!

During the week, they learned two songs...Mary Had a Little Lamb and Go Big Red! I think they did pretty darn good for only week (1 hour a day) of instruction. I can't wait to see what he can do next spring during their spring concert!

YAY!! I was a band geek all the way from 4th grade to college! I agree that music and fine arts are very beneficial for children and adults alike. Go Quin!!!

It's always good to have at least one musician in the family. :) I hope he stick with it.
