My weekend started early on Friday afternoon. The kids were out of school and my parents came up and took us out to lunch. We went to a new cafe/bakery here in town called Jubilee Market. The location is beautiful. The food is good...not the best...but good. I think it is fun place to go have a leisurely lunch with friends.
After lunch, my parents took the kids home with them. I would have loved a relaxing afternoon, but the news of wildfires had me completely on edge. Tony was at the fire station and I knew he was out battling the blazes. Being married to a fire fighter is uber stressful during wildfire season. Grass fires have a mind of their own and are completely unpredictable. I wasn't able to fully relax until midnight that night when I knew he was back at the station safe and sound.
My heart goes out to all the Oklahomans were impacted by the fires.
Friday evening, Tolstoy to Twilight met at a neat little coffee and cupcake house called Cuppies and Joe. This place is a quirky hangout that has such a unique atmosphere. Club was fun, but since we had met a short 3 weeks prior, most of us hadn't read much. I love this group of girls though and just getting to hang out and share some laughs makes for a wonderful evening.
Tony was still at the fire station for part of Saturday, so I did my grocery shopping and just relaxed at home. That evening though, he was able to come home and we had a double date with our friends Matt and Nicole.
We met at The Warren and saw Red Riding Hood in the balcony. Red Riding Hood was okay. The story premise is good and the film was stunningly beautiful. I also loved the soundtrack. The lead actors are distractingly beautiful. But overall, the movie was just so-so. I really wanted it to be scary (and the trailers made it out to be), but I didn't once jump. That really disappointed me. Will I see it again? Sure. I will probably even buy it on DVD. But you can wait to see this one when it comes out on video.
The time change on Sunday has absolutely kicked my butt. It will take me several days to adjust to the loss of an hour. I have lots of vacation this week, but I am busy, busy, busy. Hopefully I will have a lot of fun blog posts to share.
