Have you ever wondered if there things that our society could do that would make life easier? Well, in Matched, the "Society" has engineered EVERYTHING to be efficient and perfect. You don't have to make any of your own decisions, in fact, everything is decided for you...the calories you eat, the exercise you do, your leisure activities...and bigger things like your lifelong vocation and who you will be "matched" with as your spouse.
Nothing is left to chance. Everything is weighed out and decided by clear calculations. Too bad the human mind is made to question and want choices. That is where things get very interesting in this book.
This is a great story about when things are left to chance in a society set up without chance. I cannot wait for book two of this series to come out. Another teen series has me totally hooked.
For Cassia, nothing is left to chance--not what she will eat, the job she will have, or the man she will marry. In Matched, the Society Officials have determined optimal outcomes for all aspects of daily life, thereby removing the "burden" of choice. When Cassia's best friend is identified as her ideal marriage Match it confirms her belief that Society knows best, until she plugs in her Match microchip and a different boy’s face flashes on the screen. This improbable mistake sets Cassia on a dangerous path to the unthinkable--rebelling against the predetermined life Society has in store for her.
