I didn't get to catch this movie while it was still in the theatre...so I have patiently waited for it to come out on DVD...finally...it came out this last Tuesday, so I had to go rent it.
This movie is such a touching story about a 14 year old girl growing up in the south at the same time that the Civil Rights Act has just been passed. Her mother passed when she was young and she knows very little about her. Her father is abusive and she has found love and friendship with her housekeeper. The movie rated PG13 and I wouldn't recommend it for anyone under the age of 13, but I do recommend it. In fact, I watched it yesterday and am going to watch it again tonight after the kids go to bed. This will probably be one that I will add to my personal collection.
