As I was reading Life Inside the "Thin" Cage, this week, the author, Constance Rhodes, made a point that was a real "DUH!" moment for me. The chapter discusses when our bodies have betrayed us.
Most of you know I have suffered on and off with Chronic Fatigue for the last 4 1/2 years. Because of this, I have felt very betrayed by my body. When I wanted to be playing with my kids, spending time with my husband or even working out, I couldn't because all I wanted to do was sleep. Then, the depression from it all hit and that made me want to be in bed sleeping even more than before. The following excerpt really spoke to me and maybe it will help one of you as well.
"The reality is, our bodies are not always going to cooperate with our ideal of beauty and thinness. For this reason, it is crucial to come to a place where we can accept ourselves as we are -- the spirit inside the body. And when our body seems to be out of control, we can find peace by understanding that the "us" inside the body is more important than the body itself."
