Colorado Day 4 Recap

Another day of training...yes, on a Sunday! YUCK! I really wanted to find a church here in town, but none of them had early enough services, since we started training at 8:30am again! We held training until 3pm, so we were totally excited to have the entire evening to explore more of Colorado.

We decide to venture into the mountains this time...we went to Estes Park, Colorado...home of the Rocky Mountain National Park. The town is over 7,000 feet above sea level. I don't remember the exact number but it is crazy high. My ears really felt the change as we drove up the mountain.

The first thing you see when you turn the corner of the mountain into Estes Park is a scenic overlook that is breathtaking. But the best part of this are the little chipmunks running around all over the place hoping you've brought peanuts with you. They were so cute and not shy at all. I tried to get Marti to lay on the ground so I could count how many of them would just climb up on top of her...but surprisingly, she wasn't willing to do it...hehehe.

The mountains in this town are so fascinating and the town has a great charm to it. We didn't have enough time to go into the actual park, so we just strolled up and down the main street and did a little shopping. Some of the shops are totally local and have great products. I got an adorable necklace made by a lady here in Colorado that makes her own glass beads. It is so pretty, I can't wait to wear it. However, the majority of the shops are touristy and left a lot to be desired.

We found a restaurant in town, Vega Grill, that had the best roof top seating with the best view in town...but that is far as the good stuff went. The service was horrible, the prices were too high and our food stunk. Typically, we would've just paid our bill and walked away, but it was just too bad not to say something. In the end, the manager ended up comping our entire meal. The moral of this story, if you ever go to Estes Park....DO NOT eat at Vega Grill.

I was the driver coming back down the mountain...and if you've ever ridden with me through curvy terrain...well, let's just say Marti and the guys thought it felt like riding a roller coaster...hehehe. I was tense and ready to be the off the mountain, though. Even though it felt like I was flying through the curves, there was still traffic piled up behind me. I was so happy when we go back on lower terrain and the roads went straighter.

It was a wonderful evening though. Another amazing night in Colorado. I am so ready to plan a trip and bring the family up here.
