Over a year ago, I visited the WeightWise Bariatric Center and started the process of having weight-loss surgery. My dream was quickly squashed when I received the good/bad news that I am completely healthy (except for being overweight). Because of this news, insurance denied my request to have them pay for the surgery. I was crushed, but knew that I couldn't afford to pay cash. I switched over to the WW Medical Program and tried traditional weight loss (diets...yuk!). I've blogged over the last year about my ups and downs, so you know what it has been like for me. HARD!
Well, two weeks ago, my mom called and offered to loan me the money so I could have the surgery!! I didn't even know what to say. I was so caught off guard by her offer, but completely excited to have the option of surgery back in the field of play.
I met with my surgeon, Dr. B, this morning and I am so excited to tell you that I will be having the Gastric Sleeve weight loss surgery on November 4. Yes, 1 and 1/2 months away...I get extreme butterflies in my tummy every time I think of just how soon that is! I will post more about the procedure later and what my next steps are, but I wanted to let you guys know that a date has been set!!!

WOW sooner than you thought!! Glad the meeting went well!
That's scary-exciting, but I know you've wanted this for a long time! :)
I am so JEALOUS! I wish I could do the same thing. Lord knows I need it!
YEAH for your news. You will have to explain the surgery and document your recovery. I am not familiar with this one. My two aunts had the bypass surgery, but I think this is different, right?
I will be thinking about you as the time nears. I hope it gives you much success with your weight loss battle.
CONGRATS. I'm sooo excited for you. I'm trying to have Gastric Bypass in December after Fall semester ends at school.
Good Luck to you!
What WONDERFUL news Becky!!!
