A FICTIONAL BOOK
I love reading fictional books. But my favorite fiction genre is Christian Fiction and Historical Fiction. One of my favorite authors is Francine Rivers...she is incredibly gifted with mixing both Christian and Historical together. She takes a story from the bible and uses her gift to expand a couple of verses into a book. There are three books/series of hers that I highly, highly recommend. Each of them are biblically based with Francine expanding on the story fictionally from what she has researched about the time.
First is Redeeming Love. This is the first book written by Francine that I read. This is based on the story of Hosea and when God told him to take a prostitute has his wife. I loved this story and had the hardest time putting it down. I think it might be time for me to get the book back out and read it again.
Second is the Mark of the Lion Series. There are three books in this series that are set in the years after the crucifixion and resurrection....the time of the fall of Jerusalem. You will be amazed at how differently you view the Roman culture after reading this book. I felt like I was reading a very entertaining account of Roman history.
And the third is the Lineage of Grace compilation. If you read Christ's lineage in the first part of Matthew you will see lots of names and begats...well in this lineage pay attention to the fact that only 5 women are named. God had a purpose in the lives of these women and this is their story. There are 5 short stories in this book, each based on the life of one of the women and how they played a part in the life in Christ. Wonderful stories too!
If you haven't read any of Francine's work, I recommend you go get one of these and give her a try. She will change your life and your view the Bible...I promise. And if you want to know more about each book, you can click on the pictures of each above.
