Drive-In Movie Night

A few summer's ago, before our obsession with the Warren, our family would go to the drive-in movie several times each summer. But once the Warren opened, this tradition fell off and we didn't even go once last summer. So, as one last "hoorah" before school starts, I decided we needed to go.

Of course, it takes a little effort to go the drive-in movie, but where else can you sit out under the stars (and the cool meteor shower) and see 3 movies for way less than seeing one?

So Friday night, we loaded up Tony's truck by putting Quinn's mattress in the back. We threw in tons of pillows, a few blankets and all the candy we wanted from Walgreens....much cheaper than the concession stand.

The movies didn't start until after dark...9pm, so it made for a very late night. This of course requires a lot of energy juice since Tony and I are old and our kids are conditioned to go to bed at 9pm. So we all pumped up on caffeine and sugar and attempted to stay up for all 3, but we only made it through the first two. This still put us home at 1:30am, but it was totally worth it.

Of course we are hurting all day on Saturday and with my brilliant planning, Saturday was the busiest we have had in a long, long time...I'll post about that one later.

We love going to the movies though and the family time seems even more special when you are doing it at the drive-in. Maybe we can get a couple more in before they close for the season!

I love the drive-in! There is one in Granbury, just south of DFW, but I haven't been in years. So fun!
