Anniversary Dinner

Tony and I celebrated our 16th Anniversary by going to dinner at Castle Falls. The kids and I had been here a couple of years ago for an Air1 remote, but we hadn't gone to the restaurant. We loved the landscape and thought it was just a gorgeous place. So, when a groupon came over for the restaurant, I jumped on it and thought it would be great for our anniversary.

We got all gussied up, gave the kids pizza and a movie and headed out for a dinner by ourselves. (Yes, we left the kids at home alone! Aren't you proud?)

Castle Falls is a beautiful and tranquil place in a not so beautiful and tranquil part of town. The restaurant is by reservation only because they only have about 8 tables. The dining room is tiny too.

As we walked into the restaurant, I wasn't too impressed. I had perused the menu before hand, so pretty much knew what I wanted. We ordered the pretzel appetizer (thinking it would be homemade Bavarian pretzels or something). Or something is what we got. I swear to you, the pretzel was one of those frozen super pretzels you can get in the freezer section at Wal-Mart. The entree was at least better than the appetizer. I had a caprese salad (which can't really be messed up) and Tony ordered a steak, which really did melt in your mouth. But I was disappointed with our service too. We weren't offered the bread for our table and they didn't even offer us the dessert menu. Our dinner was over in a mere 45 minutes.

So, we got back in the car and I called the kids to see if they had started the movie yet. They sounded disappointed that we were coming home so quickly, but luckily they hadn't watched the movie yet.

So we stopped at Wal-Mart and got some ice cream. Then sat at home with our kids and watched a movie and ate some delicious ice cream.

(BTW...the movie was The Tourist. It wasn't a horrible movie, but it was a tad bit slow.)

The evening wasn't a total bust. We got to spend some time alone and some time with our kiddos. Not a bad evening if you ask me.
