The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver

This book is a beautiful, dramatic piece of fiction. Although the story is not true, the events that took place in the Congo most definitely are.

It is wonderfully written and has a way of taking you through the three decades in the lives of these women.

This is definitely a recommended read.

They carry with them everything they believe they will need from home, but soon find that all of it — from garden seeds to Scripture — is calamitously transformed on African soil.
