Handmade Holiday

I love making gifts for friends and family. I get to think of that person as I make their gift.

Every year we give goodies to our friends, family and neighborhoods...they get spicy&salty chex mix and sweet&chocolatey no-bake cookies. The challenge this year was doing it on a tighter budget. So our list of recipients was a little shorter and then I also had to figure out how to package it cheaper. The cookies to our neighbors were packaged in wrapped pringles containers and our family&friends go their girts in wrapped cup holders from Sonic. Pretty creative and thrifty, if you ask me.

For my sister and sweet Baby V, I made a shadow box to display one of V's newborn pictures and outfits. I love how it turned out and my sister loved it too.

My m-i-l loved my earring holder, so I made her an 8x10. I used a front opening shadow box again and then some metal mesh I found at Hobby Lobby. I really like how her's turned out...I may be re-doing mine.

The final handmade gift was for my bestie Nicole. She has an insane obsession with magazines...I think she gets a couple in her mail every day. So, I re-purposed a magazine by making a cross out of the pages. Now before you freak, this was not an original idea. You can see the complete tutorial by clicking HERE.

I find so much joy in making gifts for friends and family, but I have to admit...I stress over it A LOT. I want them to love it as much as I love making it for them. I try not to barrage them with too many "are you sure you like it" questions.

Now, it's time to finish some of the projects I have started for myself.

You are so darn crafty!! I L.O.V.E. the cross, the shadow box and the earring holder. And re-purposing the Sonic boxes, genius!
I did a similar thing with Pringles cans for the many teachers we have and stuffed them with goodies, scarves, ornaments and candy! The cans were a hit.
The expressions from people receiving the homemade gifts are just priceless!
OH! I saw on Pinterest, along with the Pringles cans, a magazine bowl, similar to the style of the cross. It was around 4" around and 2" tall.

Veddy, veddy crafy....Seriously though, these are truly great gifts to receive. You did a really good job-especially with the Pringles container and Sonic cup. I would have never thought of that.
