Road Trip - Day 2a - Pigeon Forge

I've decided to break our day in Pigeon Forge into two posts.  We did a lot and I don't want to overwhelm you with one post.

My parents got up early and headed to Asheville to see the Biltmore Mansion.  We decided to stay and play around PF.  Since we didn't have a car, we decided to start our morning with a trek to Mel's Diner which was just down the road from our resort.  Ok, so just down the road was a little further than we thought...about 2 1/2 - 3 miles, but we made it.  Mel's is a neat little 50's style joint....a perfect greasy spoon breakfast after the long walk.

I did a little research before our trip and found that PF has an indoor skydiving facility.  So, after breakfast, we added another mile to our walk and made our way to Flyaway Indoor Skydiving.  At first, we were all going to do it, but Ashton quickly chickened out.  Instead she became our official videographer/photographer.

I have always wanted to do REAL skydiving, but have never had the nerve.  And after doing it indoor, I don't think it will be something I do from a plane.  Don't get me wrong, we had a blast.  Especially Quinn and Tony...but it was exhausting.

Each person gets 3 minutes of flying with an instructor there to help.  During the first attempt, he gets you set up and helps you get used to the positioning.  For me, this was a little tough.  They said to relax, but when I relaxed my back arched way too much and I ended up without enough surface for the wind to hit.  I have no stomach muscles, so by the time I was done, I was spent.

I didn't do the second attempt since I was so tired, but Tony and Quinn did and they loved it.  For the second round, you get to jump into the flow of air.  That's a little scary if you ask me.

You can see two more videos at the links below...

We had so much fun and I am so glad that I can now say I've done it!  I don't think I will do it again, but I have no doubt that Q&T will.  They both would've done it again that day if we had had the time and money.
