Made Me Smile Monday

This post may show you just how much of a nerd I am, but I just can't help.  I am a pretty big fan of the tv show Catfish on MTV.  First off, both Nev and Max are pretty good lookin'!  But I love the drama that comes along with someone finally meeting someone that they fell in love with online....but have never met.  I mean really...how do you go 8 years without ever meeting someone (or even video chatting with them) and yet you are madly in love with them.  It doesn't take a genius to know that these things don't usually turn out real great.

****SPOILER ALERT***this is where I stop for a moment though....if you are a fan of the show too, but haven't watched last week's episode, it is only fair that I tell you to stop reading....cause I'm gonna talk about it and tell the story***

Last week's episode was the best one I have ever seen.  The couple met on MySpace when Lauren was 14, living in TX, and Derek was 16, living in MD.  It's now 8 years later and she's called Nev and Max to help her out.  No matter how many times she has tried, Derek has never been able to meet her face to face and they've never been able to video chat.

Of course, the boys did their normal detective work and Derek's photos didn't cause any alarm.  But when they did a search by his phone number, it showed registered to a middle aged black man...not a 24 year white guy.  This where my expectations went south.

The meeting was set up for Lauren to go to MD to meet Derek, even though it didn't seem like Derek was all that happy about it.  While they stood outside his door, I totally expected to see a black man open the door...but shockingly...it was REALLY HIM!  Seriously.  Derek walked out that door and (this is where the nerd comes out in me) my tears started swelling up.

I was smiling from ear to ear and couldn't help but get all emotional.  I was so happy to finally see a story turn out with a "Happily Ever After".  They have restored my faith in online relationships.  I really wish the best for Lauren and Derek.

If you don't watch Catfish, I highly recommend you start.

Why Girls Are Weird said...

I was SO thrilled by this episode. Most of the time I pretty much know that both parties are a little nuts, both the "victim" for believing what the catfish says and the catfish for, well, being a catfish.

I don't think I've ever wanted one of these to work out so badly. I was actually hiding my eyes when the reveal happened.

I just felt like she was so genuinely in love. And it seems to me like he just didn't realize how bad he was making things look by not meeting her! I'm so happy it worked out for them and I hope they're on the reunion show!
