This is the Beginning of Something Great

At the end of my senior year in high school, I applied for a job at Movies 6 in Shawnee Mall. While I was turning in my application, this cocky guy came walking in like he owned the place. I figured out pretty quickly that he worked there. Although I was pretty intrigued by him, I thought he looked like a total jerk. I found out I got the job a few days later and started working there right before Spring Break.

I quickly got to know the 'Jerk' (aka Tony) and thought he was pretty cute. Then he went out of town for Spring Break and I started dating a guy named Jason. Over the next couple of months, Tony and I became friends and I kept dating Jason. Now, Jason was one of those guys that I knew I shouldn't be dating. He was not a good guy. In fact, I was too embarrassed to take him home to meet my parents...don't ya think that should've told me something...duh!

So, one week before my senior prom, I was done with Jason. I broke up with him and left myself without a date for prom...ugh! I was a cheerleader and prided myself in always having a date, so I COULD NOT go alone. So, I decided to 'buck up' and ask Tony....yes, I asked him. Of course, he played with my head and said he needed to check his schedule...see I told you he was a jerk...hehehe. After he made me ask him again the next day, he said yes.

So, on May 9, 1992, Tony and I had our first date at my senior prom. It was crazy romantic. We had our first dance...our first kiss...and all of this in the same night. In my senior book, I wrote an entry for most memorable prom moment that said, "Tony and I had our first kiss. This is the beginning of something great." Little did I know just how right I was. I probably would've married him that summer if he had asked me. (Believe me...I'm very thankful he had a level head and didn't ask me to marry him.)

So, on this, the 17th anniversary of our first date, first kiss and first dance, I confidently say that Tony will be my last dance and kiss as well. I love you!
