What I'm Up to Wednesday (Giveaway Winner!!)

I've not been up to a whole lot the last week, so I'm gonna tell you about something I'm going to be up to soon.  I've never taken an online class (except through work).  I have a desire to learn how to do more digital crafting (especially blogger stuff), but I've never signed up for a class.  I am on the distribution list for Jessica Sprague's email newsletter and I've always debated on trying out a class or two.

So, I have finally signed up for one!!!  It is a class that Heidi Swapp and Jessica Sprague are doing together called {Mo}tography.  The class is designed to teach me how to use my smart phone camera to take beautiful pictures.  I'm excited to learn about all of the tools that are available to make the pictures that I share here on my blog and on Instagram look much, much better.

WOW! I am envious of your bathroom! It looks fantastic! Great job! I really should do something like that, I am just not crafty. But your pictures make me want to try it.
As far as addictions go, I would have to say accessories. I very seldom come home without a new necklace, bracelet, earrings or especially a scarf these days!

What I'm Up to Wednesday (and a Giveaway!!)

I have finally got myself a Pinterest account and I have been pinning like a mad woman!  It is so dang addictive.  I've enjoyed Pinterest in the past, but this is my first time to just click "pin it" instead of saving it in some other place.  One of my recent pins are fabric covered bins.  I love how together corresponding baskets can make an area look, but it can get pretty expensive.  So, when I found these, I just knew I would have to make them.  (If you decide you want to make them too, you can click HERE to see the full tutorial.)

So, on Friday, I bought the supplies and decided to spend the weekend making my own beautiful set.

And I knew exactly where I wanted them...my bathroom cabinet.  This cabinet has been seriously neglected.



The baskets were pretty easy and took about 1/2 a yard of fabric each.  The messy part was the spray adhesive, but I really don't think there is another adhesive type that would work as well.  I got the baskets at Dollar Tree and the fabric at Hobby Lobby (30% off)....each basket averaged about $5 to make.  That's not too shabby...considering they would be about $15 - $20 each at Target.

I love how the baskets turned out.  I added chalk signs to make it a little cuter...they are wooden tags painted with chalk board paint!  Love it!

So, in all of that clutter was a slew of samples...some from Birchbox, some from random sample requests I've sent and some that I picked up in random places.  But I haven't used these samples yet, so I've decided to share with you guys.  It's GIVEAWAY time!!!!  You will win all of the samples you see in the picture below...there is just about everything that you might want to try.

Book Talk Tuesday (Plus a Giveaway!)

My review today is on Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks.  I read this book a couple of months ago and decided that since the movie is coming out on Valentine’s Day, I probably needed to get my review done.  And in the same process, I’ve decided to giveaway a hardback copy of the book!  How about that??  You can read the book and then go see the movie.

This story is about a girl that tries to escape an abusive husband by changing her identity and trying to blend into a small town.  Sound familiar?  I did enjoy reading this book, but there was a little disappointment because the story line was so darn close to Sleeping with the Enemy.  There are some pretty important elements though, that make this story different enough…so I didn’t care as much about the similarities once those elements were identified.

When a mysterious young woman named Katie appears in the small North Carolina town of Southport, her sudden arrival raises questions about her past. Beautiful yet self-effacing, Katie seems determined to avoid forming personal ties until a series of events draws her into two reluctant relationships: one with Alex, a widowed store owner with a kind heart and two young children; and another with her plainspoken single neighbor, Jo. Despite her reservations, Katie slowly begins to let down her guard, putting down roots in the close-knit community and becoming increasingly attached to Alex and his family.

But even as Katie begins to fall in love, she struggles with the dark secret that still haunts and terrifies her . . . a past that set her on a fearful, shattering journey across the country, to the sheltered oasis of Southport.
