My Final ASA Project

Well, we have come to the end of this session of A Sassy Affair. I can't believe how quickly 6 weeks has flown by.

This is my final project. I have made this for Marti's brother (Marti is one of my closest friends). Her brother just got married and I needed something to put in my shadow box and I was at loss. So, I decided to make something she could give to them. I really hope they like it.

Another Plastered Canvas

Again, I am attempting to include Quinn where my crafting is concerned. I found this awesome iron-on at Michael's and immediately wanted to make something more than a t-shirt with it. I first tried ironing it on the plastered canvas. Sadly, it didn't work. The iron just kept softening the plaster.

So, I bought a new canvas and ironed on the image, then I plastered around it and painted. The cool thing is that the image resists the acrylic paint so it turned out much better than I initially thought it might.

See Through Frame

This is another one of my ASA projects. It was a bonus project from a couple of weeks ago. This is an EASY-PEASY project. You take the back out of the frame and glue in the glass. Then you attach your 3-D elements to the outside of the glass.

I found these awesome metal words at Hobby Lobby.

I made this with the intention of having it be my Dirty Santa gift for my family Christmas...but I love, love, love and I don't know if I will be able to give it away.

Plastered Canvas

This week, our ASA project is to make a plastered canvas. We took normal artist canvases and put wall plaster on top for texture. Once it is is dry, paint it and decorate.

This is my first of two canvases that I am making this week. I have made this one for my girlfriend's, daughter's 12th birthday. I think it turned out pretty cute!

I found the skulls at Michael's in the t-shirt iron-on section. I used my scalloped circle punch for the black circles.

Paper Chandelier

For our week 5 project on ASA, we were given the assignment to make a chandelier. I'm sure you are wondering...wait, isn't Becky on vacation...well, I am. I asked Summer for the directions to this project early so I could make it before we left and then schedule the post for while we were gone.

First off...this project was sooooo time consuming, but the finished project is totally adorable. The next time I make one though, I will use needlepoint hoops instead of chipboard to create my inner circle. The chipboard was a pain to form into a good circle. But again....I LOVE THIS CHANDELIER!!! I'm trying to think of all the little girls that will get one of these for the birthday presents!!!

Another Bonus Project

Our latest bonus project on A Sassy Affair was to "bling up" some pumpkins. I bought these cute pumpkins at Hobby Lobby on 50% off...woo hoo!! Then I bought Doodlebug Halloween stickers and used modge podge to glue them to the fronts. They were hard as heck to stick down...but I still like the final project.

My Second Keepsake Box

I decided to make a second keepsake box for this week's A Sassy Affair project. I made this one for Quinn. He usually gets the short of the end the stick when it comes to my crafty stuff...it's all just so girly...ya know? So, here is my attempt at a craft for a boy.

I used a box that snapfish sent me some photos in. The closure is a pony-tail holder that you wrap around a brad.

ASA Keepsake Box - Project 3

This week's challenge on ASA is to create a keepsake box. I am actually making two and this is the first of them. This one is still a work in progress though. Our family is taking a vacation to Myrtle Beach in 1 and 1/2 weeks. So, I decided a keepsake box and mini-album would be the perfect way to store the memories.

So, when we get home, we'll add photos to the top of the box and to the mini-album. We'll put shells, sand and whatever else we find inside the box. Then we'll also glitter up some small shells and sand dollars and put them on the top. I can't wait to see it completely done. I'm pretty proud of this one.




(The other keepsake box is for Quinn. He's pretty excited about it. I'll get it done and posted in the next few days.)

Each week, as we submit our project pictures to ASA, Summer assigns us each a number. Then once the deadline has passed, she draws one lucky winner for a fabulous prize! I am so excited to have won this week's drawing!! I can't wait to get my package in the mail...here is a picture of what I will be getting. I love goody bags full of fun stuff!

Halloween has arrived....At least in spirit!

I finally got all of my Halloween decorations out! (Well, actually Tony got the box out of the attic for me and I did the decorating!) It is so festive around our house now. I love, love, love Halloween. It is seriously one of my favorite holidays.

The first two pictures are a glass etching project that I did for this week's ASA bonus project. It is the first time I've ever done glass etching and I was totally surprised at how easy it was to do. I can't wait to do more.




The rest are some store bought and some homemade decorations that I've accumulated over the years. Ashton still says we need more...she is dying to make our house completely haunted!

ASA Project #2

This week's project is to create an altered board game. I decided to make a checker/chess board. I had a great time making this one and it was pretty easy. I made it to match my living/dining room and right now it is on my dining room table.

I put rub-ons on the glass to accent the board and give it more dimension.

My first project is complete!

I have finished my first ASA (A Sassy Affair) project. We were given a supply list and instructions for an adorable Wall Art project. It took me forever to pick my design, but I am so happy with the finished project.

The overall project was easy-peezie-lemon-squeezie! It was fast and fun to do...until it was time to take off the mask. Ugh! It took me over 30 minutes to get it off...the paint had adhered the paper to the wood, so I had to use tweezers, but I finally managed to get it all off.

I have so many other ides of how this technique can be used and I can't wait to make them as gifts.

I can't wait to get to work on next week's project, but I have to be patient...the instructions won't be posted until Sunday. I am very intrigued by the next one, we are making a board game. This will be a first for me.

A Sassy Affair...Project #1 Kit

A Sassy Affair started on Sept 6...read this blog post if you don't remember what I'm talking about. Anyways...last Sunday I received the supply list for all of the projects and pictures of the examples. This coming Sunday, Summer will post the directions for project #1 and we have one week to finish it and post our picture.

Rather than shop for all of the supplies, I decided to order the kit that Summer has put together for the first project. And tonight I received my kit! I'm totally excited to see such "raw" materials turn into something beautiful! Stay tuned, I'll definitely be posting my final project.

A Sassy Affair

I have been following A Sassy Affair blog for quiet awhile. The blog owner hosts 6 week sessions where project instructions are provided and you get to make cool, crafty decor. I'm not sure why, but I have been hesitant to actually join the 6 week session. Well, this time, my interest has been peeked, I have decided to join. The next session starts on September 13 and the fee is only $15. Once you sign up and pay through paypal, you will receive a supply list for what is needed for each project.
